3.  How much is tuition?

4.  What’s included in tuition?

Registration, Class Fee, Starter Kit (contents of kit includes tools and equipment) & books

5.  Is there a payment plan or do I have to pay all at once?

Yes.  Payments can be made monthly, quarterly, or in full.

6.  Can my clients follow me after I graduate?

When clients are pleased with the services received by our students, they become faithful clients after the School experience is complete.

7.  How long does it take to complete?

You must complete 1500 hours to take the state licensing exam.

8.  Do you have financial Assistance?

You can get financial assistance via a Student Loan, Veteran's Benefits, and other grants/scholarships

11.  Do you accept V.A.?

YES, we are VA approved.

12.  Is there a final exam required?

Yes.  Board requires a written exam and a practicum (hands on) exam.

13.  Will I be able to perform services on all ethnic groups?

Yes.  Memphis Academy of Barbering has a very diverse clientele.

14.  Can I work in a Salon or only a Barbershop?

Both, requirements allow Barbers and Cosmetologists to work side by side if the shop has been licensed for both practitioners.

15.  Can I work in a shop or salon while training?

No, this would be considered On the Job Training and is not allowed while enrolled in school.

16.  What are the requirements for enrollment?

The following are required to begin school: diploma or high school transcript [Must have completed the 10th grade], state issued identification, and social security card or birth certificate.

17.  What is the difference between a Master Barber and a Barber Technician?

Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

20.  How much money can I make in this profession?

The average is between 21k and 70K depending on your work ethic.  Driven individuals can make much more.

21.  When is the next enrollment?

We have open enrollment.  You can start at anytime if there is space available.

22.  What is the dress code?

Dark slacks, White Barber's Smock, and Closed toe shoes only

23.  Is there an interpreter for non-English speaking applicants?

Not at this time. Students interested in attending that are in need of an interpreter should continue to inquire.

24.  Can cosmetology hours be transferred to your school?

Yes; 750 hours of approved training in a registered school of cosmetology can count towards the 1,500 required hours in the registered barber school if a Tennessee Cosmetology License is valid.
